PropScore Methodology โ Transparent & Data-Driven
How we rank 50+ prop trading firms with a transparent, live, data-based model.
What is PropScore?
PropScore is our proprietary algorithm that rates prop trading firms on a 0-100 scale. It measures trader value, trust, rules, execution fit, and the quality of evidence behind each profile.
Every score is calculated from the firm database. When pricing, profit split, rules, Health Score, or editorial data quality changes, the PropScore changes with it.
Our Philosophy
- โData first. Plan terms, pricing, platforms, payout evidence, and trust signals drive the score.
- โTrust matters. Health Score carries 25% because attractive terms are useless if payout reliability is weak.
- โEditorial judgment is structured. Editorial & Data Quality is a scored checklist, not a paid placement or a vibes-only override.
- โNo pay-to-play. Affiliate partnerships do not change PropScore or ranking position.
The 7 Scoring Criteria
Each firm is scored on 7 weighted criteria. The total always adds up to 100 points maximum.
Best Price (50K Account)
15%Cheapest relevant plan in the $25K-$75K account range. Lower entry cost improves value, but it is only one part of the model.
Profit Split
12%Maximum profit split offered across plans. Higher trader share improves the score.
Health Score (Trust & Reliability)
25%Payout reliability, trader sentiment, Trustpilot quality, risk indicators, and operational stability.
Editorial & Data Quality Score
30%Structured assessment of payout proof quality, rule clarity, support quality, platform UX, execution fit, and edge-case trader treatment.
Minimum Trading Days
7%Fewer required trading days means a faster path to payout, based on the most flexible available plan.
Trading Platforms
6%Supported platforms and data feeds. More choice means more flexibility for different trader styles.
Max Funded Accounts
5%How many accounts a trader can run simultaneously, reflecting realistic scaling potential.
Weight Distribution
Health Score: How We Measure Trust
The Health Score is our trust metric that combines multiple signals:
- โขPayout reliability โ verified payout reports and community feedback
- โขTrustpilot rating โ weighted by review count and recency
- โขCommunity sentiment โ Discord, Reddit, X, and direct trader feedback
- โขOperational stability โ rule changes, platform issues, and warning signs
A firm can have great pricing and splits, but a weak Health Score still drags the final PropScore down.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can firms pay to improve their score?
No. PropScore is calculated from data and structured review inputs. Affiliate relationships have zero impact on rankings.
How often do scores update?
Scores recalculate on page load from current firm data, including pricing, splits, Health Score, and editorial data quality.
Why is Editorial & Data Quality the largest component?
Raw plan tables miss important trader risks. We score evidence quality, rule clarity, support, UX, and payout proof in a consistent checklist.
What about crypto prop firms?
The same framework applies, with criteria adapted to the available firm data.
